Adoration |
What is Adoration? Adoration is adoring the Blessed Sacrament. It acknowledges the presence of Christ in the Eucharist (the Real Presence) outside of Mass (abiding presence). The container for the host in exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, commonly surmounted by a cross is call a Monstrance. The glass-sided, removable receptacle at the center, the luna, actually holds the host.
Adoration is held the first Wednesday of the month in Claflin from 9am-8pm, and every Wednesday in Ellinwood from 9am-8pm. This is a great opportunity to spend some quiet time with the Lord. Those who attend Adoration find it refreshing and worth the while. Time goes quickly while we are at prayer.
We have faithful volunteers who have signed up to spend an hour in prayer during Adoration, but more volunteers are needed. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to spend some time -- half hour, lunch break, even 15 minutes -- just stop by church between 9am - 8pm on the first Wednesday of the month in Claflin or every Wednesday in Ellinwood. |
