Lector

A lector is a reader of the scriptures and has a very important ministry in the life of the Church. "In Sacred Scripture, the Church constantly finds her nourishment and her strength, for she welcomes it not as a human word, 'but as what it really is, the word of God'" (1 Thessalonians 2:13). Reading is a form of interpretation. Pacing, the words stressed, pauses, volume, tone color, and intensity are all elements that interpret the text. The lectors responsibility is to make sure his/her interpretation upholds the plain sense of the text, the author's clear intent, and that the text will speak to everyone. If you would be interested in the ministry of Lector please call the Church Office.
