Area Bible Studies and Prayer Groups

As a new year begins, wouldn't it be wonderful to devote more time to understanding the Holy Scriptures and our faith? Local small groups provide this opportunity and are always happy to welcome new members.

The benefits of these groups are countless. They often provide accountability and encouragement for learning more about the Church and the Bible, but even more than that, members find that their personal relationship with God is strengthened. Marla Habiger noted that one of the greatest benefits she has experienced is "hearing Him" in the "voices" of her her group members. How amazing is that?!

Here are a brief description of the groups currently meeting in Ellinwood:

Men's Group: Every Friday morning at 6:15, a collection of men meet at The Gather in Ellinwood to review and discuss the Sunday readings. They also share prayer requests. During Lent, the format changes to a focused study with a video and group discussions. All men are welcome to attend. Tuesday Morning Prayer Group: Tuesdays at 9 am, a group of parish women meet to focus on praying for the needs of its group members, the parish, and the community. This group often meets at The Gather as well, but in the last year they have also met at members' homes, the Girls Home in Great Bend, and the homes of local elderly parish members to offer prayer. During Lent, individual members select a day to fast while all other members pray for that individual and their intentions. For more information about this group, to share a prayer request, or to schedule a visit for a home-bound parishioner, contact Marla Habiger: (620)786-9625.

Women's Bible Study: Beginning January 10, this Bible study will begin meeting at Stephanie Joiner's home on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. This group has focused on multiple studies in the past, mainly by Catholic authors, on a variety of topics including fasting, the Rosary, and living in faith. The next study they will begin is A Map of Life by F.J. Sneed. Children are often present and playing in the background. The Rosary at Woodhaven: Mary Tudor and Jenny Kasselman lead a weekly Rosary and prayer group at Woodhaven Care Center. They meet Tuesday evenings at 7 pm. Including in their weekly meetings are prayer requests, the Gospel reading, and an offering of the Rosary for the unborn. All are invited to attend. For more information, contact Jenny Kasselman: (620)566-7310.
